Surrounded by grasslands for hundreds of miles, the largest city on the Gibot plains straddles the Elsbot River. On foot, it takes a full ten days to travel between the Northern and Southern gates, or the Eastern and Western ones. This city is the last remaining stronghold for the Gisban, the humanoid natives of Thonora. Thonora is a natural world under siege by the unnatural.

With the Elsbot river cutting the city of Niyat in half from North to South, the city's docks are key to it's survival. Much of the trade in the city happens on the docks. Due to the shallowness of the river in areas, large boats can't use the river, but barges do quite well.
Centered in the Elsbot River and city is Balos. A hollow chunk of black rock rising from the water. It's so high, one can see the whole city from it's flat top. It's nearly two miles long, half as wide, and nearly a 1000 feet tall. Access is by two stone bridges, connected at either end of a tunnel cutting through it. Heavy iron gates are raised at both ends, and can be dropped in an instant. It's a natural fortress. It's no wonder the city guard took it as their own. From Balos they can see to the city's high, stone, outer walls, and far beyond.
Niyat has always been home to the most ruthless organizations of Thonora. Due to the secret nature of many, both lawful and unlawful, no one knows how many actually exist. The city's posting boards bear proof of their presence, in the form of bounty notices.
The open air market sees a large portion of business. Like the city, it's streets allow nothing wider than the usual freight wagons. About the width of a half dozen average sized men walking shoulder to shoulder. The outer ring of the market carries a rustic look to it, but the closer one gets to it's center, the fancier the stalls and the finer the wares.
There are many places of interest within Niyat city; pubs, taverns, inns, temples, pleasure houses, flop houses, private homes, shops, schools, money houses, and more. Niyat city is as diverse as it's people. One could spend a lifetime within the city and still not see everything.
The Gibot plains surround Niyat city, and even on horseback take several months to cross. These vast grasslands are home to the most horrific of dark forces and storms throughout the year. With heavy cloud cover and thick fog hanging for weeks on end in some areas, they're nearly impossible to safely or successfully navigate.
