I just finished watching this movie on Tubi. This is what I would call a low to medium size budget zombie movie. It's nothing flashy, but the storyline is solid enough for such a flick, and it's got a nice twist I surely didn't expect.
Chriis Mulkey plays Robert Morgan, husband and father, and while this isn't what I'd call his best picture, he did a nice job of it. His comes off as a bit off while trying to be protective for and caring of his family as he struggles to save the family farm from foreclosure, and an unexplained zombie outbreak. Robert finds himself in an unmaginable dilemna by any reaonable person's standards, and does his best to deal with it, sort of.
Unfortunately, he's a bit over protective in my book and this is something that helps to make this family weak. I kept waiting for the teenage son to smack him in the head and say something like..."Dad! Chill out! Don't lose it now!", or anything even remotely teenage. Considering Dad's behavior, many teenage boys might have done just that and worse, but this one didn't, because the writers still believe in Leave It To Beaver kids. Definitely, one of the points I considered off in character behavior. Will never questioned anything about anything, and when his parents weren't there for his event, which my impression from the scene was that it wasn't the first time, he didn't get upset. Many would. However, he chose to wuss out.
Karen Landry plays Molly Morgan, a grieving mother who is more than a little off. As far as I'm concerned the wife's boat has done capsized, and it's doubtful it'll ever be right again. Every time you turn around Molly is doing something so intensely stupid I can't for the life of me understand how she would survive any crisis. Granted, her husband isn't too tightly wrapped himself, but she actually makes him look oddly stable.
The son, Will Morgan, is played by Travis Slade Reinders. This appears to be his first movie, or anything else for that matter. I find nothing else on this aspiring young actor. My best comment on this young man is that i hope he gets more practice, prefferably where I don't have to see it, because he most definitely needs it and more if possible. My first suggestion would be acting school. At this point, this kid is so mushy vanilla he's like a sadly discarded glob on a New York city sidewalk. His supposed death scene where he was foaming at the mouth went way beyond unimpressive and well into the realm of total cheese fest.
The most interesting part of the movie was the last part plot twist. I won't tell you what it is, because I don't want to spoil it for you. Let us just say that not all things are as the seem in this movie, and I definitely give some serious points for what they did in the end. I think you'll agree, that once you finally figure out what is 'really' going on, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
I wouldn't pay money at a theater, even if I did go to them, but it's a fun watch online, and if you can find it, maybe even worthy of a DVD purchase.
